Matt Henson II
Matt Henson II is a third-generation plasterer, who for the past ten years, has been learning all aspects of the trade from lathing to general plastering to ornamental work. He has hands on experience as well as technical knowledge of the trade and its materials.
He has worked with all types of plaster from cement to lime to gypsum. He has been involved on many restoration projects including damage assessments surveys, specification writing, and reattachment and recreation. He has recreated missing ornaments from old historic photos. He has worked with many residential Architects and Designers and they seek him out for his expertise and talent. He has designed and created castings and artwork as well.
Matt Henson, Sr.
Matt Henson Sr. is a second-generation plasterer who grew up in the trade learning all aspects of the trade from lathing to general plastering to ornamental work. He has hands on experience as well as technical knowledge of the trade and its materials. He has worked with all types of plaster from clays to lime to gypsum. He has performed many restoration projects including damage assessments surveys, specification writing, injection consolidation, and reattachment and recreation. He has recreated missing ornaments from old historic photos. He is a frequently requested speaker for the National Restoration Convention, the National Trust, The association of Preservation Technologies and The University of Texas on Preservation subjects.
Both Matt Sr. & Matt Jr. have "hands on" experience as well as technical knowledge of the trade and its materials. They have worked with all types of plaster from cement to lime to gypsum. Machelle
Wood
Is a specialist in architectural finishes. With a degree in Art from the University of Texas at El Paso, she began her career in restoration in 2005 and was hooked. Working with conservators and decorative finishes specialists from all over the world, Machelle has learned many key techniques that are frequently showcased in historic buildings.
Additionally, she has developed investigative skills to help develop the methods and processes for unique finishes that occur in our country's older structures and create specifications that fit their requirements. Whether it's gilding, glazing, marbling, or conserving existing finishes, Machelle is dedicated to preserving America's history one building at a time.
Professio Highlights
- Governor’s Award for Excellence in Restoration for work performed on the Windsor Hotel, Abilene, Texas. Project was on time and under budget.
- CSI Award for excellence in Craftsmanship 2002 for artfully restoring the ornate plaster on the T&P Station lobby, Fort Worth, Texas. Also received awards from Historic Fort Worth, Inc. (1999) and Texas Architects magazine (2001) for the same project. Project was also on time and under budget.
